Swim Australia Teacher qualifications are recognised across Australia and provide aspiring swimming teachers with the skills and knowledge to teach water safety and swimming skills to learners of all ages through safe and engaging swimming lessons and programs.
Our courses feature a best-practise, blended delivery technique providing you with the flexibility of self-paced online study coupled with a face-to-face practical workshop.
Swim Australia offers three entry-level courses with no prior qualification requirements:
- Swim Australia™ Teacher (SAT)
- Swim Australia™ Teacher of Babies & Toddlers (SAT B&T)
- Swim Australia™ Teacher of Competitive Swimming (SAT CS)
We also offer a suite of extension courses for Swim Teachers who are qualified in either Swim Australia™ Teacher or Swim Australia™ Teacher of Competitive Swimming qualifications and who wish to expand their skill set and advance into specialist learn to swim programs:
- Swim Australia™ Teacher of Learners with Disability (SAT LWD)
- Swim Australia™ Teacher of Cultural Awareness In Aquatics
In addition, SWIM has developed these new Aquatic Courses:
All enrolled Swim Australia course students are covered by SCTI Insurance for the duration of their course. Complementary Graduate SWIM Membership will also be awarded upon becoming qualified with us.

Unique Student Identifiers
From 1 January 2015, under the Australian Government’s Student Identifiers Act 2014, all Registered Training Organisations are only permitted to issue a VET qualification if a Course Student has a student identifier. All current course enrolments now request the Course Student’s USI and additionally provide details of where and how to gain a USI.

SWIM is a not for profit, membership based, registered charity and Registered Training Organisation that strives to achieve the World’s best swimming and water safety Teachers and highest performing swimming Coaches.

All SWIM’s courses are recognised by the International Federation of Swim Teachers Associations (IFSTA) and endorsed by Swimming Australia – the peak national sporting organisation for swimming in Australia.
